HEEEEEERE FISHY FISHY FISHY....

Your skin is your largest organ, and it absorbs everything that you put on it, both good and bad. But did you know that the foods that you eat can effect the quality of your skin just as much as (and maybe even MORE than) the products that you use

Our bodies need healthy, nutrient dense foods in order to survive and thrive! If you give your body what it needs, it will return the favor by giving you glowing, gorgeous skin! And many times, the benefits don't just stop at our skin, but also continue on to our hair, nails and teeth! And I don't know anybody who doesn't want shinier hair and stronger nails!

So are you wondering what you're going to make for dinner tonight? And want it to be something that will nourish your skin from the inside-out? Well, here are some ideas:

OYSTERS, SHRIMP and TUNA are all high in Selenium, which is an antioxidant mineral that helps promote skin elastin (which helps the skin maintain firmness and elasticity). Selenium also helps to protect the skin from sun damage. And for all you "lunch on the go" peeps, remember that these benefits can be found in both fresh tuna as well as in canned tuna! But when shopping for canned (or pouched) tuna, choose light tuna, which is lower in mercury than albacore & white tuna.

SALMON & HALIBUT are both high in Omega-3 EFA's (essential fatty acids). These fats are considered "essential" because our bodies cannot make them on their own. Instead, we need to get them from outside sources.  Omega 3's serve as the building blocks for healthy skin cells! These healthy fats reduce inflammation throughout the body, which may translate into fewer skin breakouts. Omega 3's will help maintain elasticity in your skin, and may even help protect it from UV radiation.

SCALLOPS are high in selenium as well as magnesium, which is beneficial for hair growth. People who are low in magnesium sometimes experience dry, brittle hair, or even hair loss.

CRABMEAT is also high in selenium, as well as zinc, a mineral that may help you maintain healthy hair.

And don't be afraid to dip that crab meat in a bit of Grass Fed Butter! Butter from grass fed cows is high in vitamin's A, D, E and K2, which are all very important for skin health! It also contains CLA's (just like the tallow that FATface uses in it's products) which have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties!

Right now I bet you're saying "but I take a fish oil capsules every day...do I really still need to eat fish?" The answer is YES! I mean, I guess it's better than nothing. But realistically, nutrients work synergistically, ie they're more effective when taken with other nutrients. So if you're just popping a pill, you may not be getting the greatest benefit of those nutrients.
